How does an altar look like

Today the ultimate altar, of course, is the table of the Lord, where we have communion and we remember His sacrifice that covers all our sins.
This is a time to remember His fame, to call upon His faithfulness to previous generations. To repent on behalf of the church for not putting Him first. We confess the altar of the Lord is broken down and we have idolized other things.
We ask Him, Jehovah Raphe to help us to repair the altar of the Lord. We seek Him to have mercy and restore favour to our nation. Every prayer, every act of worship in song, obedience, financial offering, intercession or fasting is like laying one stone on another on the altar. This November is a time that has been set apart for Christians of many denominations to come together as one, to renew the commitment to God that Canada had at its beginning and pray that He would revive our land.

The floor is closer to the ground, the ground is Mother Earth, Mother Earth is Sacred to the Max to me so I've got lots of my altar items on the floor. Plus I prefer sitting on the floor over a chair so placing items low in space is the perfect height for me. Go with your own intuitions. If it feels right for you then do it. If it feels uncomfortable then change it up.
I have lots of fun setting up altars. Get creative! You might look at some of my altars and not classify them as such but to me they create a sacred space and serve to remind me when I walk by that there is more to this world than what we see.
Altars are places where the divine and human worlds interact, a place to get back in touch with your authentic self as a representative of divine energy. You do not need to believe in a God or gods to have an altar. You can have an altar to communicate and get in touch with your own higher knowledge, or a cosmic energy. If you do believe in spirits, saints, angels, deities, etc. The more you spend time at your altar space, the more peaceful energy will be infused there and soon it will be calling to you daily to come and spend some time basking in the peace.
A common definition of an altar is 'Structure on which offerings are made to a deity'. This can be so but it can be so much more than that. In biblical times the offerings made usually involved slaughter. Well that ain't happenin' in my house.
I do make offerings however. Offer whatever you have to give like the Little Drummer Boy. He played his drum for Jesus. So if you are musical you can share that gift at your altar. I do sing there sometimes. I offer flowers and herbs from my garden, beautiful stones or feathers that have come across my path. The options are limitless. Remember the following are all just suggestions from my years of working with these spaces. In the end there are no rules other than the first one I gave you at the top of the page.
The top of my dresser. The top of an old desk with a wobbly leg. My kitchen counter. An old microwave cart. Two, old, cardboard boxes of the same size, with two sides from an old bookcase laid on top of the boxes to make a flat surface. It lasted for years, and it was perfect!
Currently, my altar is the top of my dresser and a moss-covered stone with an old stump in my backyard. When I sit at my altar, I feel like I am wrapped in a bubble of awesome. I feel so many things all at once. I feel safe, I feel powerful, I feel in awe as if I am sitting at the base of some huge, majestic mountain, staring up at it, mesmerized.
I feel like I am the only person in the world that matters and it feels good. Everyone should be able to feel like that. If you do have an altar, spend a few minutes of your day there. I really love being able to take a peek into your magical practices and see how you do your thang.
