Should i get double piercings
If you are thinking about multiple ear piercings, here are a few things to consider before getting that second or third, or fourth ear piercing.
If you know that you want multiple piercings, it is possible — even preferable — to get more than one piercing on your earlobe or outer cartilage in a single sitting. The only factor that will determine how many piercings you can get at one time is the space available on your ear. For cartilage piercings, you have 12 weeks until you can safely change your earrings. To express your style, of course!
Before heading out to get your ears pierced, think carefully about the types of earrings you want to wear. This will help your ear piercer determine where best to place your new piercings. No two ears are alike — even on the same head! The size of your ear and the types of earrings you want to wear will determine how many piercings you can fit on your ear and how much space you should put between each piercing hole.
If piercings are made too close together, you may have trouble fitting the earrings you want to wear. More importantly, if the holes are pierced too close together, there is a risk they will merge into one, causing a tear.
Earlobe piercings can be made on the soft tissue of the lobe, ending just before the hard cartilage begins. To determine best placement, your ear piercer will feel your earlobes to determine how much soft tissue you have available for piercing.
Outer cartilage piercings can be made just inside the curl where the cartilage tissue is flat and open. As with earlobes, the number of outer cartilage piercings you can have is determined by the size of your ear and amount of flat cartilage tissue available. At the time of your piercing, your piercing professional will evaluate the size of your ears and discuss preferred placement with you.
Next, they will make placement dots on your ears with a surgical marking pen and provide you with a mirror so that you can review and approve the marks. That way, you will have a better idea as to the overall cleanliness and professionalism of the place, instead of relying on someone to clean their equipment in a crowded public space.
Maybe you already have multiple piercings and some fun jewelry and earrings to show off, but you want something a little different or to show off a new style. Having two lobe piercings means double the fun and double the jewelry, meaning that you can have even more cool pieces to show off. Out of all the different places that you can get a piercing, the earlobes are probably the least painful relative to anything else. The reason for this is that the cartilage in our ears is incredibly dense, to the point where there are less nerves there than most other parts of the body.
It will hurt only for a second, being a slight discomfort at best. Instead, hollow needles are used as a more clean and efficient way to pierce any part of the body, including the ears. Clearly, due to its safety and sanitary tendency, a piercing needle is your absolute best bet for an earlobe piercing. Always ask your piercer what equipment they use and make sure you are comfortable with whatever process they practice.
In spite of all of this, there is always a chance for infection or other complications when you get a piercing. There are ways to lessen your risk however; mainly going somewhere safe in the first place.
If you notice or experience severe pain in your ear area, along with marked red streaks, you may have an infection that requires antibiotics, so be sure to see your doctor as soon as possible to prevent things from progressing.
As well as this, make sure that you are keeping an eye on the area and keeping it clean. Soap and water will suffice just fine in getting rid of germs, and this is the single most important thing you can do for yourself and your health after getting a piercing. Tell us Your Idea. Regardless, the needle is then pushed through the ear to create a hole that is then sealed by pushing the jewelry through and into place. Then, the process is repeated for the second hole. What may feel like a 10 on the pain scale to one person may feel like a two to someone else. In terms of healing time, you can expect the double piercings to heal in about six to eight weeks.
Be sure not to mess with the piercing or try to change out the jewelry before the healing time is up; otherwise, you may end up irritating the piercing, which could potentially lead to an infection. What you can count on, though, is that a double ear piercing will most likely require a double payment—that is, one per piercing. Some studios may even ask you to pay an additional charge for the jewelry; however some include it in the piercing cost, so be sure to check with the shop beforehand to get an accurate price estimate.
Then, saturate a sterile gauze pad with a saline solution or fill a small container for a salt soak. If you use the pad method, gently press it on the front and back of both piercings while squeezing the cotton to release the saline solution. If you'd prefer to just soak the piercing, rest it gently in the solution for a few minutes until the piercings are saturated.
