We are now disciplined , and we are told what to watch for the purpose of what the rating is today!!!! When it comes to s films or you even s films, you better get used to the idea that you're NOT going to get the same RATING you get today for whatever purpose the rating should be. I am not super strict my any means but I would not want my 14 year old boy watching this. There is extensive dialogue about sexual topics and not in any kind of healthy way.

In addition there is a lingering shot of bare breasts and then a side shot of the girls whole body. That is all in the first ten minutes!

I thought about telling my 19 year old daughter she should watch this but I know she would be offended by a racial and gay comment. Definitely nostalgic for me but not one to share with your kids.

I lost it at the part when Jake's drunk "girl friend" gives Tim a birth control pill. I laughed at the parts with Long Duk Dong because he doesn't know that it's not cool to get drunk and he thinks Jake is a girl and grabs his privates.

MasterRiley Sep 13, Sixteen Candles was really enjoyable for me. I know a lot of people have different opinions but I think its overall a good movie and personally really entertaining to me. I like the comedy style in it and the casting choices and performances. Like a lot of other Hughes films, however, this doesn't age very well in certain respects, particularly in scenes featuring Gedde Watanabe's infamous Long Duk Dong. You can see that a lot of teen comedy tradition is created in this film.

The nerdy hero, the young and misunderstood girl, the hunk thats going to steal her heart, even the cheesy and overused soundtrack; a lot has been taken from Sixteen Candles.
